If you travel, TravelCargo offers two ways to utilize your unused luggage space to help others deliver their packages, and earn a fee for your service.

What you can realistically earn

Every fee is negotiated directly in chat, TravelCargo takes no commission, so the agreed amount goes entirely to you. On popular corridors the market has settled around clear ranges:

  • Germany → India: typically €20–€40 for a 5 kg package, more for heavier or urgent parcels on high-demand city pairs like Berlin–Delhi or Frankfurt–Mumbai.
  • Germany → UK: shorter flights carry lower fees, but so does courier competition; agreed fees commonly land in a similar band per kilo.
  • Rarer routes: where courier prices are highest and flights are few (for example Frankfurt → New York off-peak), senders pay a premium for a trustworthy traveler.

As a benchmark senders see: DHL publishes €45.99 for a 5 kg Paket International to India (Zone 7). Anything you agree below that while fairly compensating your effort is a win for both sides, which is exactly why the marketplace works. How payments work

TravelCargo does not process payments and never takes a cut. You and the sender agree in chat on the amount, the moment it changes hands (typically at handover), and the method: cash, bank transfer, or a payment app. Because the platform stays out of the payment, there are no payout delays, no fees, and no holds on your earnings.

  • If browsing package requests: Look for packages that match your route and timeline.

  • Build a trustworthy profile by completing your information and encouraging feedback after successful deliveries.
  • Always be aware of and adhere to customs regulations for items you carry.

Know the rules before you carry

Carrying a package for someone else is legal and everyday, but responsibility is yours:

  • Ask what is inside. Open the package at handover if you want certainty; honest senders expect it.
  • Stay within your own allowance. Fees should not push you into excess-baggage territory; Lufthansa’s intercontinental excess rate dwarfs a typical delivery fee.
  • Customs is yours to respect. Carried personal goods inside the destination’s duty-free allowance (for example ₹75,000 into India under the 2026 Baggage Rules) pass without duty; beyond that, declare.
  • Never carry prohibited items: weapons, drugs, hazardous materials, counterfeits, large cash amounts, live animals, perishables, or prescription drugs without a prescription.

Safety and verification

Every sender and traveler completes a one-time government-ID verification (powered by Didit) before transacting, so you always know who you are meeting. In-app chat keeps the conversation and agreements on record, and two-sided ratings build reputation over time. As always, meet in safe public places such as airport terminals, and confirm delivery details in chat before the flight.

How much can I earn carrying packages?

Fees are negotiated directly between you and the sender, TravelCargo takes no cut. Typical agreed fees run €20–€40 for a 5 kg package on popular corridors such as Germany–India, and roughly scale with weight and route rarity. One long-haul flight with 10 kg of spare allowance can earn more than the cost of an extra checked bag.

Does TravelCargo take a commission?

No. The platform is completely free: no listing fees, no membership, no commission. The fee the sender agrees to goes entirely to you.

How do I get paid?

Directly by the sender, in whatever form you both agree: cash at handover, bank transfer, or a payment app. TravelCargo does not process payments, which is also why your earnings have no platform deduction.

What am I allowed to carry?

Personal, legal, non-restricted items that fit your own baggage allowance and comply with airline rules and the customs laws of every country on your route. Weapons, drugs, hazardous materials, counterfeits, cash, live animals, perishables, and prescription drugs without a prescription are prohibited. You are responsible for what you carry, so ask what is in every package before accepting.

Is my travel plan public?

Only if you want it to be. Posting a public travel plan gets you found faster; alternatively you can keep plans private and browse package requests that match your route instead.
